Day 3: Beach, Great-Grandmother, Msida, and Feasting with Family
Milana: Today I have done many things for the first time.
At 8:30 in the morning I arrived at Mellieha Beach with Chloe, my mom, my dad, Nanna, and Masie. The Mediterranean water was cold in the morning but eventually the sun warmed it up. As I expected, the water in Malta is much more clear than the water at Cape Cod. The sand was much thinner than the sand in Cape Cod as well. A hopz biz-zejt (Maltese sandwich) is always delicious on a Maltese beach! It was the first time I've gone to a beach in Malta!
Next I took a bus to Gwardamanga to see my buz nanna (great grandmother) for the first time. She is my grandmother's mom. I learned that she lived in Msida.
To end my day I went to my auntie Adlene, Uncle Chris, auntie Agnes, uncle Joe, and my cousin Ezra's place for dinner. That place is also in Msida. Ezra is a 1 year old who is the cutest! I've never met him before. I haven't seen these aunts and uncles for over 2 years because they used to live in Canada.
Msida is on the North-East side of Malta. My nanna was born there. I was founded in the late 1800s. It was a fishing village in previous years and is now the town where the University of Malta is. Around the 1870s Msida became a parish. It's full of lime stone buildings in Malta
For dinner I ate mussels and clams for the first course and for the second course I ate pasta with sauce and pistachios. My uncle who is a chef made the scrumptious dinner for us. My auntie Adlene surprised my parents with a birthday cake. Later on auntie Marthese, Karl, Marie-Claire and Darren came.
Chloe: We met our great grandmother. My sister and my cousin Maisie and I went to the beach. We went to see my cousin Ezra and we ate dinner there.
